Eleanor Gill just moved to Toronto after working in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia developing a training program for Canadian executives working in China, and at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.  She holds an MA in Asia Pacific Policy Studies, University of British Columbia, and Scottish MA in International Relations, University of St. Andrews. She is currently seeking new opportunities in China-related business and consulting in Toronto, and was delighted to help Carla with this event and learn more about what the business community here is doing in China. Eleanor speaks Mandarin, has extensive experience working in many parts of China, and is eager to continue developing her China expertise.

Hong Li is currently pursuing his NBA at Schulich School of Business at York University.  He took the opportunity to contribute to this forum not only because of his concern about the environmental problems associated with China’s rapid development, but he is also very interested in the business opportunities in the environmental industry between Canada and China. Moreover, he hopes to network and build relationships with those currently involved in Canada-China business.

Amanda Yiu is currently in her second year studying International Business Administration at the Schulich School of Business at York University. She is volunteering to help with the marketing logistics of this event. She aspires to gain work experience around the globe and also help raise awareness of some critical issues linked with International Trade and Business. Next year, she will be going on an international exchange to study abroad in Hong Kong, China.

Steven Jiang is president and owner of IMSENT Inc. As a business owner, he is committed to promoting the “green” concept in both Canada and China.  Acting as a bridge between the two countries, Steven intends that his company will continuously facilitate the “green” concept, particularly in the manufacturing sector.  To learn more, please visit www.imsent.com.

Beatrix Bérczi is currently a consultant with Investors Group where she helps individuals take control of their financial lives. As a former student and consultant throughout China, she has first-hand experience with the impact on China from both effective and ineffective environmental policies. She is looking forward to this forum as an opportunity for open dialogue.

Aga Magdolen is a Creative Director at avant - garde, an event boutique that specializes in creating events with worldly flair that inspire and engage for positive change. In her spare time she crafts eco-friendly jewelry. She was also a policy advisor to the former minister of the environment Stephane Dion and has designed greening community based initiatives in Toronto. Aga has an international marketing degree from Humboldt University in Berlin and University of Toronto.

Barbara Goss has been assisting with the establishment of a locally-managed reforestation project in rural Mongolia for the past two years (www.treetour.org).  This not-for-profit project will nevertheless be supported in some part through a "voluntourism" venture.  As such, Barbara is very much interested in both the environment and ecologically sound business practices in eastern Asia.  She is also currently pursuing a certificate in the management of international development projects.

Yinuo Geng is currently a student at the University of Toronto, where she is studying peace & conflict studies and international relations. She is passionate about the interaction of cultural, political and environmental factors in reducing conflicts and leading to more cooperation. The experiences she gained while volunteering with a NGO in a rural village in China this past summer has furthered her interest in the environment as an important aspect of society, and she looks forward to this forum as a method to communicate ideas and inspire greater acknowledgement of this issue.

Kimberly Rafuse
is completing her Master's in Environmental Security and Peace with the UN Mandated, University for Peace in Costa Rica; she has a degree in Engineering from McGill University in Montreal and has worked in risk consulting for ten years.

She is excited to be involved in an initiative that brings people together to discuss environmental issues and solutions in a collaborative manner.  Businesses have a role to play along with NGO's and government; however the understanding the realities such as population growth and contextual cultural/political issues are  important for effective long term strategies in both China and Canada.

Danielle Bosley is the Administrative Assistant at TLI - The Mandarin School www.themandarinschool.com.  Danielle recently moved to Toronto after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Art History from the University of Guelph.  She is excited to be part of this forum to learn more about what is being done to counter climate change in China currently, how Canadian businesses have been involved and what opportunities exist for the future.

Carla Kearns is the Managing Director of TLI – The Mandarin School www.themandarinschool.com, a company that enables companies to engage in successful business between Canada and China by helping them overcome language and cultural barriers. She recognized the enormous potential of facilitating dialogue between key players in the environmental sector between Canada & China, and as such, founded the Canada China Environmental Forum
