Philip J. Fust has had a long-term interest in China ever since studying at Nanjing University in 2005, and sees the environmental sector as the next big growth sector in China. He is currently pursuing his CFA designation and improving his mandarin, after recently moving to Canada from Frankfurt, Germany. Since moving to Toronto he has been working at the Communications and Information branch at the Ministry of Energy.
Sharon Song recently graduated from Economic major of York University and pursuing an entrepreneurial career. She joined CCEF 2008 to build relationships and gain experience in the environmental sector. She believes in the need to develop social and environmental benefits alongside economic development.
Shirley Go works for one of the fastest growing community colleges, George Brown The City College. She is a Chinese immigrant who has lived in the Philippines for 20 yeas and in Taiwan for 5 years, and has always dreamed of visiting her homeland one day. Being environment conscious, she hopes to help bring this awareness to China and, along the way, also gain some insights on how to start a business in China.
Steven Jiang is president and owner of IMSENT Inc. As a business owner, he is committed to promoting the "green" concept in both Canada and China. Jesse Du immigrated to Canada from Xinjing, in the northwest of China, 2 years ago. She likes the beautiful sceneries of Canada and hopes her hometown will become more beautiful. Currently she is studying business at George Brown College and wishes to find an opportunity to do business with China in the future.
Alan Tan has a Ph.D. in environmental engineering and a Queen’s MBA, and offers a combination of both technical and business skills in the energy and environmental sector. He has experience in business development and technical consulting in both Canada and China, and is interested in promoting environmental business opportunities between the two countries.
Lorraine Smith is a freelance sustainability consultant who combines private sector and NGO knowledge to bring about positive social and environmental change. Her knowledge of CSR issues in textile supply chain, retail operations and stakeholder engagement was honed during her four years at Canadian Business for Social Responsibility. Previous experience includes working as a Senior Business Analyst for Manulife Financial, Manager of Logistics for a New Zealand-based electronic engineering firm, as well as supporting fund raising and communication for World Wildlife Fund Canada. Lorraine is fluent in French, German, Spanish and Portuguese and has an Honours BA from Mount Allison University.
Lucy Lai is currently a Senior Account Executive with Edelman Public Relations, where she provides communications counsel and services to a variety of corporate and public sector clients. Deeply concerned with the conflict between global economic growth and its toll on the environment, she would like to contribute to the efforts – such as Canada China Environmental Forum – in finding a solution that would enable sustainable human development to co-exist with clean environment for generations to come.
Melanie Dailey has over ten years of experience in managing a wide range of projects and initiatives in both corporate Canada and the not for profit sector. In her current role, Melanie is engaged in developing and supporting business strategies that address a variety of environmental issues. She is very pleased to be involved in the Canada China Environmental Forum and in the collaboration between Canadian and Chinese businesses at they work together for meaningful environmental improvements.
Neal Picov is currently a Project Manager with Hewlett Packard provided IT consulting services for fortune 100 companies globally providing better business outcomes. He is committed to making improvements to the environment and volunteers his time for Evergreen in helping to build sustainable urban communities as well as pursuing continued education in this area next fall. Neal also speaks intermediate Mandarin and has a detailed understanding for the Asian culture through his prior experience as an English teacher in Mainland China.
